The Department of Social Security of the Ministry of Defense has developed an algorithm for processing payments for family members of foreign military personnel who have died, gone missing, or been captured.

This was reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

First, applicants need to contact the Ukrainian embassy in the country where they reside to establish identity and verify legal capacity.

Next, they must issue a power of attorney to their representative in Ukraine, who must be a Ukrainian citizen, authorizing them to submit the necessary documents to the territorial recruitment and social support center.

Then, a power of attorney for opening a bank account in a Ukrainian state-sector bank needs to be issued.

Applicants also need to provide a set of documents:

• A statement in Ukrainian requesting financial support and burial assistance (in case of death);

• A certified copy of the military personnel’s death certificate, certified by the military unit;

• Certified copies of documents confirming family ties with the military personnel: for a spouse – a marriage certificate; for a child – the child's birth certificate; for parents – the military personnel’s birth certificate; for dependents – a document confirming the dependent status;

• Copies of family members' identification documents;

• Copies of documents confirming registration in the State Register of Individuals – Taxpayers (for tax reporting);

• Consent for the processing of personal data in Ukrainian;

• Other documents, if available.

The set of certified and prepared documents and powers of attorney must be sent to the representative in Ukraine. Once received, the representative should open a bank account.

After that, the representative must visit the TRC and SP of their choice or the military unit to submit the mentioned documents.

It should be noted that on September 24, the Cabinet of Ministers published a resolution simplifying the procedure for payments to the families of deceased military personnel and wounded soldiers.
